The choice of pendant lights over a central island is important, and it is always recommended that customers research this, and it is always best not to buy from dubious sources online but to go to some of the well-known suppliers and online shops to purchase your new light fittings.
You may not notice it over a period of time grease and fat in the air do cling onto pendant lights, and it is always best to clean these or get them replaced. If this is the case do not immerse the light fittings in water a warm damp cloth with the appropriate cleaning liquid will be sufficient however please turn off the lights at the fuse board at the circuit breaker, and allow some time afterwards before turning the power back on because you may have got water splashed onto some electrical connections, which you are unaware of but if you allow them to dry out and the water to disperse then you are likely to switch on the lights safely.
If in any doubt, about the lights, which are getting greased up then just replace either the lampshade or replace the whole light fitting.
Should you call out your local electrician or attempt this yourself, this is entirely up to you.
Remember to take photographs of the wiring in the lamp holders and also the ceiling roses to ensure that you have got the wiring to the correct positions.
If you have more than say three wires in the ceiling roses, to avoid fires or electrocution it is recommended that you employed the services of your local electrician to replace the lights.

Karen recently came to our place on a Sunday afternoon when our kitchen suddenly lost all power. She found and fixed the problem with the breaker very quickly, and also checked the others.
