Come to Life!
With lighting design it is important that you do not have to have all the lights coming on at the same time. So you may find that you have switch which is at the door from the hallway. With another switch from the door going out to the rear garden or patio.
What the switches do from these positions is very important as well.
For example light switches at the rear kitchen door to the patio may include switches for the outside lights and on the wall or for the driveway or even just for the garden lighting itself.
This would also can be combined with two-way light switching, thus when entering from the garden in the dark, the main set of lights can be switched on, in order to provide illumination as you pass through or come into the kitchen.
The second bank of light switches are more than likely to be located at the position close to the exit door into the hallway, to enable you to turn off the lights as you enter the rest of the house.
Light switches at the entrance door into the rest of the house are often positioned with switching capabilities for the pendant lights over maybe the central island and also the under cupboard lights.

They also may switch on separate areas of the kitchen or maybe the dining area as well.

I have always found Karen and her team at Bright Spark to be friendly, professional and reliable. Their quotes have been reasonably priced and provide a thorough breakdown of costs for replacements parts and labour. I highly recommend them.
I would highly recommend Karen and her team for any electrical jobs you have. From the moment I first emailed my enquiry the service was super quick (I appreciate this depends on their other jobs at the time). We received a quote that was clear with the works to be done and price was reasonable. On the day the electrician (Joe I believe) turned up on time, did a fab job and even tidied up after himself. The old ceiling lights we had were a little tricky to get off and pulled some of the plaster off too, but he filled it in and made it as good as new.Great job from beginning to end. Thank you Bright Spark
Phil, from Bright Sparks arrived promptly, was really polite, cracked on with his job and gave us a really good brief on what he'd done and why it was needed which was then followed up with a thorough report. Bright Sparks have been absolutely superb and not only are they saved in my phone but also I'd recommend them to friends and family. Thanks guys. P.s. you were up front and transparent about costs too.
You just saved us the biggest headache ever; after months of electrical problems ( now resolved), we had a ‘no power situation’. After checking circuit boards, switches etc we were at a complete loss. Read your piece above (after Googling ‘circuit board switches up, but no power‘) about RCD switch and resetting (didn’t know what an RCD was), and after 8 hours sleep dreaming of circuit boards and 2 minutes of contemplation, and re-reading your advice,I totally nailed it. Brilliant tutorial, many thanks. Susanne (I am neither young nor savvy with anything technical)
Karen and her team provide a very efficient, friendly and pro-active service with a smile! We would not hesitate in recommending Bright Spark and fully intend to use them in the future for our electrical requirements."
